27 MW Wind Park Begins Operations in Greece
The 27 MW Tsoukes Sarres wind park in Greece, featuring six turbines, has commenced commercial operation, marking European Energy's first project in the country.
European Energy has officially commenced commercial operations at the Tsoukes Sarres wind park in Greece, marking a significant milestone as the company's first wind project in the country. This onshore wind park, located in the Municipal Unit of Avlida across the Voiotia and Evia regions, encompasses six Vestas V150-4.4 turbines, generating a total installed capacity of 27 MW. The successful completion of this project reflects European Energy's commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions in Greece. Construction of the Tsoukes Sarres wind park began in 2024 and presented various challenges due to its location in mountainous and rocky terrain at an elevation of approximately 700 meters. Despite these obstacles, the project has now transitioned into the operational phase, contributing renewable electricity to the Greek power grid.
Joanis Duraj, Director and Country Manager for European Energy in Greece, expressed pride in the project, noting its importance in showcasing the company's capability to deliver renewable energy projects from inception through to operation. Tsoukes Sarres is co-owned by European Energy and Sampension, a Danish pension company that acquired a 50% stake in the project in December 2025. This partnership exemplifies the collaboration between renewable energy developers and institutional investors, aimed at fostering sustainable energy investments across Europe. Torbjørn Lange, Head of Real Estate & Infrastructure at Sampension, highlighted the significance of the project, emphasizing the need to continue supporting the green transition through such initiatives.

Thorvald Spangaard, Executive Vice President of Project Development at European Energy, noted the potential for growth in renewable energy development in Greece, indicating that the company seeks to leverage its experience and partnerships to pursue additional opportunities in the region. As European Energy continues to develop its portfolio of renewable energy projects in Greece, including onshore wind, solar, and battery storage, the successful launch of the Tsoukes Sarres wind park serves as a foundation for future initiatives. The project highlights the importance of transitioning to renewable energy sources and demonstrates how collaboration can lead to significant advancements in sustainable energy infrastructure in Europe.
